What does a green line on my iPhone screen mean?
The short answer
A green vertical line means the display panel itself has failed, not iOS. A column of the panel has stopped being driven correctly, so it lights up green and stays lit. It shows up after a drop, a pressure knock in a pocket, moisture reaching the panel, or as the panel ages. Resetting, updating or force-restarting will not remove it, and a line like this often gets worse rather than better.
How to confirm it is the panel
Take a screenshot with the line on screen and view that screenshot on another device. If the line is absent from the screenshot, the fault is in the display hardware and the phone is rendering the image correctly. If the line shows in the screenshot too, that points at something other than the panel, and diagnosis tells you which.
Also force restart the phone and look at it against a plain white background, which makes a faint line easier to see.
What the repair involves
The failed display assembly comes out and a new one goes in. iFixpert runs a free 21-point pre-repair diagnosis first, confirms your exact model, and puts a fixed price in writing before any work starts.
iFixpert does most iPhone display replacements at your address across Gurgaon and Delhi NCR. A panel that has to be bonded back and set flat goes to the Sector 49 lab instead, and iFixpert says which one yours is at diagnosis.
What will not fix it
Pressing on the line, freezing the phone or running a pixel-fixing video will not bring back the dead column. There is no home remedy for a failed panel. Before a visit is confirmed, iFixpert matches the part to your exact model, because the part for an older iPhone is not always available.
Can a green line on an iPhone screen be fixed without replacing the whole display?
No. On an iPhone the glass, the display panel and the touch layer are bonded into one assembly, so the panel is not serviced on its own. The whole display assembly is replaced. What you can choose is the parts grade, and iFixpert names it on the written quote.
Why is there a green line on my Samsung screen?
Same fault as on an iPhone: the display panel has failed, not the software, and no reset or update will clear it. The screenshot test above works the same way on a Samsung, so run that first. The difference is at the parts stage, where iFixpert checks the display against your exact Samsung model before confirming a visit, because parts for older and budget handsets are not always available, and names the grade, OEM, OLED or Compatible, on the written quote.
